Basic visualization is 'lost' while working

If I select basic visualization, click new and enter a rule, this visualization is al the time lost from the pathways while working (when I open up the dialog again, the rule appears to have been deselected automatically). This does not happen if I select advanced, then tick a random element, and add the rule there.

(I run PathVisio using winXP)
